ECHO Applications
Live cell imaging is one of the most demanding applications in microscopy. It requires precise environmental control, minimal phototoxicity, and the ability to capture dynamic cellular events over hours or days. Whether tracking cell migration, monitoring drug response, or studying cell division, the microscope must not disturb the biology it is meant to capture.
ECHO’s live cell imaging systems including the ECHO Confocal, Revolution, and Cellcyte 1, are purpose-built to give researchers real-time, high-quality data from inside the incubator (Cellcyte) or outside with stage enclosure (Revolution & Confocal), from the comfort of their desk, across high-throughput multiwell plate workflows.
Researchers shouldn’t spend their time fighting their equipment or having to constantly worry about their cells throughout experiments due to unreliable equipment. Traditional microscopes create multiple points of worry during live cell workflows. Here’s how ECHO changes that.
Moving plates in and out to image breaks the stable environment cells need. This introducies temperature swings, CO₂ fluctuations, and vibration stress.
High laser power from point-scanning confocals bleach fluorophores and damage cells. This makes long-term time-lapse experiments unreliable.
Most imaging systems are built to only handle one single well plate. This slower throughput means days of tedious manual imaging, affecting the screening process.
Traditional closed systems generate heat from fans and electronics, disrupting incubator temperature and compromising cell viability over extended experiments.
ECHO's incubator-based systems keep plates completely stationary inside a stable environment. The cells are never disturbed between timepoints.
ECHO's widefield and spinning disk confocal designs expose samples to far less light than point-scanner systems. This keeps cells healthy for days.
Cellcyte systems handle up to six multiwell plates in a single run, dramatically accelerating throughput for screening and longitudinal studies.
No fans means no heat generation inside the incubator to help maintain a pristine stable environment that traditional solutions cannot match.

The ECHO incubator enables you to conduct live-cell experiments such as timelapse. Our incubator is completely fanless, using convection to heat and circulate warm air. This eliminates vibration and prevents outside dust from reaching your samples and optics.
The see-through construction and large front door gives users a clear view and easy access to samples. A lightweight, single piece design makes installation and removal very quick and easy.
Cellcyte 1 sits inside your CO₂ incubator — imaging your spheroids and organoids continuously without ever moving the plate. Its open system design ensures proper airflow and easy decontamination. The low-heat LED system keeps your incubator temperature perfectly stable, even during overnight and weekend runs.
Low-heat design keeps incubator temperature stable during continuous imaging
Airflow-friendly and easy to decontaminate. No biosafety compromises
Cultures are never disturbed meaning zero handling artifacts across days-long experiments
Precision algorithm engineered for large 3D samples. This stays locked even as spheroids grow
The dedicated spheroid software module features a precision autofocus algorithm engineered specifically for large 3D samples. We’ve improved on the generic Z-detect built for flat cells. Track growth kinetics, morphology changes, and drug response across entire multiwell plates at high throughput, automatically.
When we set out to develop Cellcyte 1 we took a look at existing live-cell analyzers and explored the pain points their customers had. We learned similar systems that lived in incubators are pricey, closed, and hard to clean/access cells often requiring an expensive service.
From there we learned that it was paramount to create a system with easy access to cells and intuitive software to make sure the user is always in control to successfully perform experiments as efficiently as possible. Cellcyte 1 gives an experience that provides reliable, reproducible results.
Cellcyte 1’s software includes data analysis and graphing tools to help the user capture high-contrast images and immediate visualizations of data points.
This system provides you with rapid automated imaging abilities. Incubator attachment available for Live-Cell imaging.
Perfect for longer terms experiments from within the incubator. Spheroid Module available.
Widefield system built with fluorescence and brightfield capabilities, incubator attachment available.
When looking into live-cell imagers, most labs are forced to choose: monitor continuously inside the incubator, or image in high resolution at the bench. We’ve created a bundle to eliminate that compromise. ECHO is the only company that can offer both instruments as a single supported solution.
For a limited time we are offering a Live-Cell Workflow Bundle that provides both Revolve and Cellcyte 1 together for under 100k.

Yes, we provide both virtual and in-person training for our customers. Additionally, every microscope is preloaded with our interactive iBooks manual. This is a great training tool for new lab members or as an easy refresher for existing users.
We have microscopy specialists globally available for technical questions, product demonstrations, and support. Please contact or chat us so we can help.
Yes, we offer both virtual and onsite product demonstrations of our microscopes. We follow CDC guidelines for masking and social distancing during our in-person demos. Please schedule a demo to schedule a demo for your lab.
Upright microscopes are only capable of viewing glass slides. Inverted microscopes are optimized to view live and fixed samples in well plates, dishes, and flasks. Our microscopes’ ability to easily convert from an upright to an inverted means that your microscope can be optimized for each sample.
Our microscopes are optimized to view samples and cells prepared on slides, well plates, petri dishes, flasks, and hemocytometers.
